From the editor

Dear readers,

To begin we'd like to wish all our readers a happy 2009! And what a year it will be! Anticipation and electricity is in the air, and at Lumec, we're all exited to get things rolling!

In our environmental education section, this newsletter will tackle some mainstream issues that have to do with sustainable development, notably the RoHS guidelines, and we'll to explain what exactly are electrostatic discharge free (ESD free) production zones.

Please take a minute to read our spotlight features as well. We're launching a revamped version of our Lumec3D service, Lumec3D 2.0. The exciting and innovative luminaire modeling feature is completely free and ready for use on our website. Also we're sharing a great success story about a major LifeLEDT powered Leonis installation in Montreal, Canada.

Finally, and we're very excited about this, we're adding a new feature to the Focal Point called "The Green Light". From now on, if you have any stories you'd like to share about environmental responsibility issues (successes, challenges, etc), send them to us and we'll publish your stories in our upcoming newsletters. For information and guidelines, please refer to the article "Send us your Green Light stories!"

Happy reading
