FERDIE AWARDS 2009. First prize in the ‘BEST PRODUCT DESIGN’ category awarded to Philips Lumec's RoadStar™ luminaire.

The Fonds d’Études et de Recherches en Design Intérieur de l’Est (FERDIE) and ‘intérieurs’ magazine, joined and together created the competition in 2007. The PRIX INTÉRIEURS | FERDIE’ is a design prize awarded to the best in design on the Québec scene. For a third year in a row, this Québec-wide interior design competition fulfilled its mission to recognize and promote the achievements of the Québec design community and to foster connections between peers, potential clients, and the general public.

In the ‘Product Design’ category, Philips Lumec’s RoadStar™ luminaire was selected first out of 18 entries. “We are extremely honoured to receive this prestigious award,” mentioned Denis Lavoie, vice-president marketing and sales, “Design has been a focus at Lumec since the ’70s. This product perfectly embodies our design philosophy. It’s Philips Lumec’s way of showing that it is possible to have the best of both worlds. We created a large-area LED luminaire that combines leading edge optical engineering with a timeless design. In other words, not only does it look incredible and delivers photometric performance that rivals anything that is currently available, it also lasts 7 times longer and consumes up to 50% less electricity than the light sources that currently line our roadways.”
