Headlines

Headlines

Two weeks ago I was sitting on the beach, during a week vacation and I found myself doing what I usually do when  I don’t have time. I was reading a magazine but only looking at the titles and then reading deeper when I was interested.

I always thought that it was a lack of time that made me end up reading the headlines, but I think it may be more than that. I think that humans tend to stop and look at only what catches their eye. We see this through marketing, branding, places and ambiances which make the Congress on Ambiances which Pascale Savard talked about last week in her post, very pertinent and interesting. We do live in a society that is very fast. Everything is now and everyone is busy, but mix that in with human nature and you have problems that need to be addressed.

Even the articles I want to read, I don’t have time to read them all, so I end up reading the headlines. Sometimes after reading the article you think that the headline was enough anyway.

I like the idea of social media but can’t find the time to do anything with it. I love looking through Flipboard on my iPad and being able to see everything in one spot and clicking on the headline that interests me.

This is why I love what the Philips Lighting Community has started.

It is a one pager on a theme, this one being urban, and you can see what is being done in the world with images which is most of the times enough, because it really is true that  one image equals a thousand words. If you want more information you have the link to the details. I invite you to look at it and participate. I hope that they keep it up. I for one, love it.
